Step 1: Size Your Nails First
Before anything else, lay out your press-ons and match each one to your natural nail. The press-on should cover your nail from sidewall to sidewall without touching your skin. Step 2: Prep Your Natural Nails
This is the most important step for longevity. Start by removing any old polish. Then:
- Push back your cuticles gently with a cuticle pusher.
- Lightly buff the surface of each nail — this creates texture for the adhesive to grip.
- File the free edge if needed.
- Wipe each nail thoroughly with rubbing alcohol. This removes oils and moisture, which are the #1 cause of early lifting.
