How to Remove Press-On Nails Safely Without Damaging Your Nails

Remove Press-Ons the Right Way — No Ripping, No Damage
The biggest mistake people make with press-on nails isn't the application — it's the removal. Pulling or forcing them off can strip layers from your natural nail, leaving them thin and brittle. The good news: safe removal takes just a few minutes and leaves your nails completely intact.
What You'll Need
- Warm water or a bowl for soaking
- Cuticle oil or coconut oil
- Cuticle pusher or orange stick
- Nail buffer
Method: Warm Water Soak
If you applied your Evara Nails press-ons with adhesive tabs or Nail glue, removal is simple:
- Fill a bowl with warm (not hot) water.
- Add liquid soap and oil.
- Soak your fingertips for 10–15 minutes.
- Gently wiggle each press-on from side to side — it should slide off easily.
- If there's any resistance, soak for another 5 minutes. Never force it.
- Use the cuticle pusher to remove the nails.
What NOT to Do
- Don't peel or rip — this pulls off layers of your natural nail.
- Don't use a metal tool to pry — it can crack the press-on and damage the nail bed.
- Don't rush — soaking time is doing the work. Patience = healthy nails.
After Removal: Nail Recovery
Even with perfect removal, your nails benefit from a little TLC afterward:
- Apply cuticle oil generously and massage it in.
- Buff away any adhesive residue gently.
- Give your nails 24–48 hours to breathe before reapplying if possible.
- Hydrate with a nail strengthener or treatment if your nails feel thin.
